This is the first of three practicum courses designed to progressively develop the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies required of nurse anesthesia educators. Students develop foundational educator competencies through guided observation, supervised teaching experiences, reflective practice, and application of evidence-based educational principles across academic, clinical, and simulated learning environments.
This course contributes to the Professional Nurse Educator Portfolio (PNEP), a longitudinal portfolio that documents progressive achievement of nurse educator competencies.
This course is conceptually integrated with Foundations of Nurse Anesthesia Education. Practicum experiences provide opportunities to apply didactic concepts through structured observation, supervised teaching, and reflective practice. Together, the courses support progressive development of educator competencies by connecting educational theory with authentic teaching experiences across classroom, clinical, and simulation environments. The PNEP is developed across both courses as a continuous representation of professional growth.
