This course is the first in a series of three clinical practicum courses designed to progressively develop the fellow’s knowledge and skills in ultrasound application, regional anesthesia, and acute pain management. Fellows participate in on-campus intensive experiences emphasizing point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia (USGRA), anatomy and sonoanatomy, image acquisition and optimization, procedural techniques, and neuromuscular assessment.
Throughout the semester, fellows apply and further develop regional anesthesia skills through clinical experiences at their home clinical site. The course culminates in a competency-based evaluation of essential USGRA skills to determine readiness for affiliate-site clinical rotations.
