DNAP 705 : Quality Improvement & Patient Safety

This course introduces the doctoral nurse anesthesia student to the principles of quality improvement, patient safety, and systems thinking in healthcare. Students examine human factors, error science, root cause analysis, crisis resource management, and organizational influences on patient outcomes. Emphasis is placed on the application of evidence-based strategies and quality improvement methodologies to identify, analyze, and mitigate risks within anesthesia practice and healthcare systems. Students critically evaluate patient safety literature and quality improvement approaches to support the development of safer clinical environments, improved healthcare systems, and enhanced patient outcomes.
