Degree Awarded: Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP)

Length: 36 months (Starts in January)    

Enrollment: Full-time on-campus 

Cohort size: A maximum of 75 students are accepted each year

Clinical Rotations: Begin third semester

The Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) Practice Doctorate is MTSA’s entry-to-practice doctoral degree program for registered nurses who meet the admission requirements. 

Students begin a rigorous clinical rotation process in the third semester, gaining a broad range of peri-anesthesia clinical experiences designed to help them develop and refine nurse anesthesia knowledge, judgment, and skills.

Degree Earned: Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP)

Length: 24 months (Starts in Fall)

Enrollment: Full-time in the first year, half-time in the second year 

Method of Instruction: Fully Online

The DNAP Completion program is designed for working Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) who already hold a master’s degree or higher and want to earn the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice degree.

This six-semester online program is differentiated from other doctoral completion programs because each course is created with specific nurse anesthesia content and is designed with the practicing CRNA in mind.

Length: 15-week non-degree course

The Foundations of Regional Anesthesia course is a comprehensive 15-week post-graduate course designed for CRNAs seeking to broaden their scope of practice by incorporating regional anesthesia. This course covers a wide variety of regional anesthesia related topics, including ultrasound principles, neuromuscular functional assessment, local anesthetic dosing, peripheral nerve blocks commonly used in the perioperative management of patients, and postoperative considerations. It combines online didactic lectures and interactive synchronous events to ensure a thorough learning experience. The course culminates in a hands-on cadaveric workshop, providing a practical application to reinforce your understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology specific to regional anesthesia.

MTSA’s continuing education offerings provide opportunities for healthcare professionals to expand knowledge, maintain professional competence, and engage with current topics in nurse anesthesia.
